A network of community choirs for adults (18+), created to make singing in a choir accessible to everyone. Singing a variety of styles of music from Pop and Rock through to World music. There are no auditions so anyone can join - regardless of experience. Using unique and inclusive coaching methods to create a relaxed environment where everyone will have the ability to shine.



One of the region’s largest and finest ensembles with a reputation built on showcasing local talent and inspiring audiences with its exhilarating sound and ambitious repertoire. Friendly and welcoming orchestra but there is often a waiting list to join some sections of the orchestra.


For young people aged 13-18 years to play and develop their folk music skills. Young people interested in folk music and exploring and developing their musical skills are welcomed. No prior musical experience needed, you don’t need to read music and there are no auditions. You’ll get expert tuition, write new tunes and upskill your instrumental techniques to give you the confidence to perform live.


The best of Devon’s young jazz musicians, split into two separate bands. DYJO2, the younger band, is focused on essentials of big band playing: ensemble skills in swing and other grooves, and the fundamentals of jazz soloing. DYJO1, the senior band, aims to stretch the players’ skills in all directions in a wide repertoire. New member welcome, the most important thing is enthusiasm to learn and a willingness to ‘have a go’.


2 county-wide youth orchestras for musicians aged from 10 to 18 years. The Concert Orchestra is aimed at players of Grade 4 or equivalent and the Symphony Orchestra is for players from Grade 6 standard and above. They explore, rehearse and perform a wide range of music from film and games themes to classic orchestral repertoire from around the world. No formal auditions but contact to join.


Fun, challenging, but also accessible to anyone on any level, so no pressure in the singing department! And a fantastic way to meet people, de-stress and come away feeling part of something rather special. No audition, all abilities welcome, 18+.


Sharing a passion for J S Bach’s music and an enthusiasm for performance. New singers from all backgrounds welcome to join. Members cover a wide range of musical experience, from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned performers. Previous experience of singing in German is a bonus, but certainly not essential, as language coaching will be given within weekly rehearsals.


A versatile and accomplished chamber choir of around 40 auditioned singers drawn from all over Devon. Happy to hear from experienced singers with clear voices and good sight-reading ability and will add enquirers to a waiting list.


A friendly, mixed-voice, non-auditioning choir and performs two concerts each year with professional soloists and instrumentalists.

Choir of 80 singers who perform exciting and innovative choral concerts and performances over the last 30 years in venues in and around the Exeter area and the southwest. Auditions are held to join. If you can read music, sing in tune and are prepared to learn new music at home, you are ready for an audition. Re-auditions are held every three years in order to maintain a high standard of performance.


The choir spans generations and has members with formal musical backgrounds singing alongside those who had never sung before. Together they learn and perform folk songs from three main sources; traditional English folk songs often from Devon, songs recently written and a few songs in other languages or from other cultures.

West End vocal coach-led adult musical theatre choir. No audition needed, all levels welcome!


Welcomes prospective new members over the age of 18. Auditions are held during the third weeks of September and January. All choir members take an audition with the Director of Music when applying for membership and after five years there is an informal vocal assessment to check that singers are still comfortable within their vocal range.


An amateur, member-led group. Members are involved in choosing and developing the musical programme for each year. The orchestra is composed of people with very different musical backgrounds and interests, who simply enjoy the fun and camaraderie of playing in the ensemble. Friendly ukulele club with all standards of players. Beginners welcome. Practice new chords and strumming patterns together during practice sessions and have many songs for everyone's taste! They encourage players to bring along any new songs for everyone to play and add them to the music book.

Harmony parts are taught by ear and sheet music is often available.

An adult chamber orchestras for players of all levels based in Exeter. Adults of all abilities and experience may play music of all forms to enhance their musical ability and give them the opportunity to perform.

A fun sociable singing group welcoming anyone who enjoys singing or just wanting to ‘have a go’. Some are experienced singers and others haven’t sung since school days! An enthusiastic group of Ukulele player/singers who meet at St Katherines Priory. All abilities welcome. Other stringed instruments are welcome but as Ukuleles are the main interest, restrictions may apply.


A no-audition choir for adults who like to sing, socialise and have fun! Each term, the music will be inspired by the Northcott’s shows and productions – ranging from classic musical theatre and show tunes to moving sea shanties. Rehearsals will take place weekly at the Cygnet Theatre. You don’t need to be able to read sheet music.
